OVERVIEW
Officially known as the Republic of Lithuania, it is a country in Baltic Europe. Lithuania shares its boundaries with Latvia, Belarus, Poland & Kaliningrad Oblast. The capital of Lithuania is Vilnius.
Lithuania has a humid continental climate with warm dry summers and severely cold winters. January is the coldest month with average temperature of -5°C and sometimes even falling to -20°C. it experiences heavy snowfall and frequent snowstorms. Summers are generally dry with temperature ranging between 20-25°C. Rainfalls usually accompanied by thunderstorms.
Lithuania is famous for its national dish Cepelinai which is a dumpling made from grated & riced potatoes and stuffed with ground meat or dry curd cheese or mushrooms. This dish was named after a zeppelin airship which is oval in shape giving similar shape to the dish. In Lithuania, St. Patrick’s day is celebrated by dying river Vilnia in bright Emerald color. Miesto Sienos Gatve is a tiny street which has a wall fragment from the medieval, it is situated in a residential building. This country has its own aroma “scent of Lithuania” with notes of wildflower, ginger, raspberry, sandalwood and musk. There are two Independence days that are celebrated in Lithuania February 16 and day of restoration of Independence on March 11.
The capital city Vilnius is one of the main tourist attractions of Lithuania with rich architecture and amazing Delicacies. A trip to Trakai, which is a lake resort near Vilnius is another activity quiet common among the visitors. other tourist attractions are Brave the Devil’s Museum, St. Anne’s Church, Curonian Spit which is long strip of sand between the Curonian Lagoon & Baltic Sea, Kursiu Nerija National Park, Hill of Crosses, Money Museum, Gate of Dawn, Ginuciai Water Mill, Grutas Park, Museum of Genocide Victim, Aukstaitija National Park, Rumsiskes open –Air Museum, etc.
